North Shore Ranch
Part of the Kilauea Lighthouse property, the JKR Ranch tells a story of its own. Paying homage to the history of Hawaii’s paniolos — cowboys who tended the longhorn cattle in the island’s lush terrain — we wanted this space to feel warm, weathered, and connected to the land.

Knotted wood walls and saddles feel akin to the American West on the mainland, with much of the furnishings and fixtures sourced in Utah and Colorado. But details woven throughout JKR ranch pay homage to both the island and the homeowners’ heritage.
Patterned leather and hand scraped hardwoods frame the furnishings, while vintage kilim pillows and plush upholstery create a soft place to unwind.
Walls of windows and french doors give panoramic views of the lush grasslands beyond. Custom rocking chairs and picnic tables to provide ample seating on the porch with clean lines and a timeworn feel.
In the barn, a twelve foot wide hand dyed kapa cloth frames her grandfather’s vintage tools, and a custom JKR ranch brand in the corner ties back to the paniolo history and ranch’s heritage.
